EVOLUTION OF MUSIC DOCUMENTARY THEORY

June 14, 2009

The Evolution of the Music Industry.

Treatment by Team Awesome Productions.

The intention of this informative documentary is to highlight the evolution of the music industry.

To achieve this idea we will be interviewing a variety of Artists from 4 different generations with a series of identical questions. The interviews will show varying opinions and experiences from people who were a part of the industry at different times. This is to demonstrate the positive and negative changes that have influenced the music industry, as we know it today.

The themes investigated will revolve around the topics of the Artist’s journey, moments that changed music, band integrity, online sales and commercialism. These topics will be brought up through a series of questions asked in each interview (maximum of 10).

Some sample questions are:

• How did you get your break / What was it that drew you to music?

• How has the music industry changed since you have been a part of it?

• How has file sharing and advertising affected the industry?

• Where do you see the music industry in ten years? All the questions are fairly generic but are asked only to prompt and guide the interviewee. The interviews will be filmed as a Q&A but in the final cut
it will be presented as the Artist’s response only.

The second part of this documentary is on the street interviews with the consumers. We intend to establish the consumer’s buying habits, how often they go to live shows, and question their morality of illegal downloading.

Our overall message is support your local artist, go to gigs, buy their music.

The Opening and Closing credits will contain a monologue over a montage with examples of music and band videos reflecting the ever-changing landscape of the music industry. All Videos and Artists will be credited.

The Evolution of the Music Industry will be distributed online through TubeMogul.com.

FILM REVIEW: The Spirit

February 22, 2009

As a class we went on a mysterious adventure to the city to view one of the most talked about film (by nerds) out at the moment.

How was it you ask?

Think sin city, then remove the storyline, the larger amount of interesting diverse characters and fire every decent actor and then my friends you have this movie.

Emotionally there was no substance whatsoever that laughing uncontrollably because you were so lost and confused was normal behaviour in a cinema containing around 40 people.

The storyline was so vague that the highlight was when Samuel L Jackson exploded at the end. Well that apparently happened. Due to the lack of storyline I truly have no idea.
But I digress
This film was visually interesting and entertaining. The original type of filming stopped me from leaving half way through and asking for my money back.

If you have seen it then I am sorry but you will not be able to get those one hundred and eighty two minutes of your life back. And if you haven’t then do not waste your time. Spend it outdoors playing sport or painting a lousy landscape.

Peace.
